Summary and Suggestions for SEA Teacher Project Batch 9

1.1 Purposes of practicum

My purpose in joining this program is to be part of SEA-Teacher in improving education in ASEAN countries, one of which is in the Philippines, where I was assigned. However, not only to improve their education, I also want to improve my skills such as English language skills, communication skills, my leadership skills, my teaching skills, and I also want to share my academic knowledge.

It was true, everything I hoped for was realized. I can help the students at CvSU CDC especially for their English comprehension. Then, I can also improve my English language skills and communication skills. Then, through this teaching practice, I can also train my leadership skills to become a good teacher, of course with my teaching skills.

1.2 Procedures of Practicum

To reach my goals that I have mentioned before, of course it can be realized after going through a long process. This practicum lasted for 26 days. In the first and second week, I participated in the observation conducted at CVSU CDC. I watched how the teacher taught and handled the class. I also helped out in class if needed. Then, in the second week, I also started to make lesson plans according to the needs of the pupils there. I taught 8 times a week in 2 different classes. VI Matapat class and VI Maaasahan class. After making the lesson plan and other teaching materials, I did my teaching practice in the classroom in week 3 and 4. On the final day, I celebrated farewell with the 6th grade students, cooperating teachers, and also all the important parts of CvSU CDC.

1.3 Outcomes of practicum

I feel that the skills that I have mentioned before are much more developed. I am more confident in speaking English. Then, I am also more confident to speak in front of people. I also have more effective communication skills. My lesson plan is much better than before. Being able to learn about different cultures and also understand Tagalog a little bit is a plus that I am very grateful for to this day.

1.4 The challenges of practicum

There were not too many challenges that I felt here. It's just that I have to be extra to keep up with the very active students.

1.5 Overall impression

I am very happy and grateful to be part of the SEA Teacher Project Batch 9. I am also very grateful to have the opportunity to be a student teacher at CvSU CDC. There is nothing that makes me sad than saying goodbye to the people who have been a part of my teaching journey there. Thank you for the opportunity given by SEAMEO and CvSU so that I can improve myself even better. This experience is one of the great achievements in my life. Once again, thank you SEAMEO, thank you CvSU!

1.6 Suggestions for future improvement

This program and CvSU CDC have done their job very well so there is no other word besides thank you and thank you.
